Integrating Health and Culture into Preschool Classrooms

June 6, 2019

Before going into elementary school children already have their habits, personalities and cultural norms being built.  EatWell Exchange was invited by KidTastik to present to preschool teachers about cultural norms, nutritional guidelines and tips to encourage healthier habits.  Preschool children are served a meal during school hours and some bring their food. It is important for teachers to learn healthy habits and guidelines to encourage a balanced lifestyle. It was important to remind them that just because something has "always been" or is encouraged as a "norm" it should still be challenged and the correct way should be implemented. Teachers were given handouts to share with parents and a recipe to make Epis/Sofrito.
